Entering The Age of Aquarius

CHANGE appears to be here now, personally and collectively. Some of the changes we may like and some we may not. If ever there was a time to tune in to our own innate wisdom – it is NOW. We can choose to turn off the tele-vision and turn on the inner-vision. Re-inspire ourselves by reading books, reading labels, and visiting family, friends, and nature. Take time off the screens; which are programming us in all matters and interfering with our sovereign choices.

Contemplating change reminds me of the Serenity Prayer which was originally composed by theologian Reinhold Niebuhr in the early 1930s and since credited to many and adopted by many for good reasons.

I ask to be granted the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can;
and the wisdom to know the difference.

The Indigenous peoples of the world have been warning us about what they have clearly observed in our culture’s lack of awareness. We have moved away from respecting our home, the planet we all inhabit. The Kogi, an indigenous group from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains in northern Colombia, told us years ago: “We are the ones we have been waiting for.”  We seem to have forgotten that we are not the only ones that live here. This amazing planet is home to creatures big and small.  They live in the earth, in the sky and in the oceans. The trees, the bees, the birds, and the dolphins are being taken for granted along with the natural ecology we share.

From the unreal lead me to the real

From the darkness, lead me to the light

From death, lead me to immortality.

Hindu Mantra

As we all evolve at this time the cosmos is powerfully mirroring some interesting positions. Astrologically Pluto has moved into Aquarius which is exciting to many. What does it mean?

Pluto, a catalyst for deep change, is the planet of regeneration, transformation, death and rebirth, power and control, secrets, obsession and focus – a releasing of the old to experience a renewal.

Aquarius is the humanitarian who delights in friendship, truth, multi-dimensionality, creativity, adventure and freedom.

The planetary ruler of Aquarius, Uranus, is known for sudden changes, progress, rebellion, electricity, modern technology and new possibilities.

According to the Chinese New Year Calendar, which begins yearly on January 29th, it is now the year of the Wood Snake representing wisdom and transformation.  The element of wood is associated with earth, the trees, the grasses.  It encourages growth and adaptability and supports us in navigating challenges. A time to let go of what is no longer serving and embrace meaningful change.  The snake. Amaru, is the tutelary animal spirit of the south representing the element of earth. The first part of a prayer to the directions as taught by The 4 Winds Society for opening up sacred space begins:

To the winds of the South
Great Serpent
Wrap your coils of light around us
Teach us to shed the past the way you shed your skin
To walk softly on the Earth
Teach us the Beauty Way

Now is a good time to appreciate all that we have done to forgive and heal. We can support ourselves with meditation, oxygen, hydration, movement, detoxing and lightening up the diet as we prepare for renewal. It is time to love ourselves so we may then love each other. The world needs loving.

Synchronistically the card I pulled out of a deck of 68 cards after writing this is #55 Snake Spirit -Time to Heal from Colette Baron-Reid’s The Spirit Animal Pocket Oracle Illustrated by Jena Della Grottaglia. Thank you, Universe, for the big wink.
